This week, just ONE news director move to report, which filled ONE opening and created ONE new opportunity. Our list of stations with an ND opening remains at 27.
THREE local broadcasters were honored with Peabody Award Nominations. We’ll tell you which stations and provide a link to all the nominees in our Names in the News section. You’ll also learn about a new hire in Sarasota and a Florida City Council honors a former EP.

Robertson
WOI-TV, Des Moines, IA…this Tegna owned ABC affiliate has hired RYAN ROBERTSON as its next news director. Here’s the memo from GM DAVID LOVING to the staff. In that memo, David didn’t mention but we’ll tell you that Ryan is coming from KGWN-TV, the Gray owned CBS affiliate in Cheyenne, WY. He’s previously worked in Lincoln and Kearney, NE, and Wichita Falls, TX. Ryan replaces APRIL SAMP who left in December after five years as ND.
New News Director Opening:
KGWN-TV, Cheyenne, WY…as noted above, RYAN ROBERTSON is leaving this Gray television owned CBS affiliate to head to Iowa as ND for Tegna’s WOI-TV (ABC) in Des Moines. He was the news director here for two years. More above!

Obituary:
Bloom
HERB BLOOM, a longtime time executive producer for the NBC owned stations division, died May 2nd. He was 78. Here’s a link to his obituary. He spent much, if not all, of his time for NBC based in Washington, but he had earlier worked in Boston, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh.

The Jacksonville, FL, City Council was scheduled to honor the late WJXT-TV Executive Producer SHARON SIEGEL-COHEN last Tuesday. We told you that Sharon died last month after battling ALS. More in this story from the station.

After a 20 year run as General Manager, ELLIOTT TROSHINSKY will retire in June from Hearst’s KCRA/KQCA-TV (NBC/My Network) in Sacramento. The company news release is here. Before KCRA, he’d been GM for KMAX-TV in Sacramento and for WCIX-TV in Miami. He’s also worked in Philadelphia and Kansas City.
Doane
Nexstar has promoted AMY DOANE to General Manager for WNCT-TV, its CBS affiliate in Greenville, NC. She’s been the General Sales Manager there since 2015, first joining the station in 2013 as the Local Sales Manager. More in this news release. Amy’s also worked in Raleigh, Nashville, and Wichita.
