We reported that KUVN-TV in Dallas had a news director opening.
That is incorrect. The opening is actually at KNVO-TV in McAllen, TX.

While we have a fair amount of ND movement this week, there’s not much else: no GM changes, and no items in Names in the News. Perhaps time for our occasional reminder to send along your news.
THREE news director jobs were filled this week, while TWO new jobs opened up, both at Spanish language stations in Dallas Texas.

WHNT-TV, Huntsville, AL…GREG BALDWIN returns to the news director chair as he joins this Nexstar owned CBS affiliate. He’s been the Assistant ND for Gray’s WVLT-TV (CBS) in Knoxville, TN. GM STAN PYLANT sent this note to the staff. Greg’s a former ND in Augusta, GA, and Traverse City, MI. His extensive career history is here. Greg replaces RICK BOONE who left in July after about a year as ND.
Spencer
WQAD-TV, Moline, IL…proving that you CAN go home again, COREY SPENCER moves within Tegna to become ND for this ABC affiliate. He’s currently the Assistant ND for KARE-TV (NBC) in Minneapolis-St Paul, but said on Linkedin he grew up watching WQAD. You’ll see that post and Corey’s career history here on Linkedin. He replaces ALAN BAKER who left in March after 13 years as ND.
Reyna
KNOP-TV, North Platte, NE…thanks to a loyal reader who tipped us that BEATRIZ REYNA is now the ND for this Gray owned NBC affiliate. Beatriz is also the noon anchor according to her station bio. And apparently she’s been in that job since December so apologies for dropping the ball. Beatriz replaced MELANIE STANDIFORD who, according to our report in October, 2022, was terminated for collecting signatures on a petition to effectively ban abortions in Curtis, NE.
New News Director Openings:
KXTX-TV, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX…there’s a posting for a news director position at this NBC owned Telemundo station. My archives from 2020 reported that JOHN STONE, VP/News for NBC’s KXAS-TV was assuming oversight of the Telemundo operation as well. I’ve emailed John to get the details.
KUVN-TV, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX…and while we’re in the Metroplex we can tell you that there is also a posting for an ND opening at the Univision affiliate. My records show CALIXTO GONZALEZ has been the ND there since November 2021.
KNVO-TV, McAllen, TX…this Univision station has a news director opening.
