Finally! Retirement in December of 2025! I’ve announced my retirement at work and now I’m going public. It’s a long, long goodbye, but I’m sure December will be here fast. When it’s all said and done, I’ll finish up with 47 years and four months in broadcast journalism. I can’t begin to express in words what a rewarding career this has been. I’m so grateful for all the experiences and all the lifelong friends made in the blood, sweat, tears, and joy that make journalism such a noble calling. As I approach retirement in December, and then beyond, I hope to take some time to share some of things I’ve learned about journalism and about life. My apologies—it’s what old people do. So, as we say in broadcasting, stay tuned. Our retirement plans? Lisa and I are building our forever home on a couple of acres on Greers Ferry Lake. It’s a multi-year plan finally becoming reality. My address will be Shirley, Arkansas, which was where my Dad was born in 1921. So, coming back full circle, you might say.
